On the 21st of last month, the DOPT issued an order announcing its decision to implement the new biometric attendance system linking the employee’s Aadhaar number with his/her attendance. This system, according to the order, was to soon be implemented in offices of all the Central Government departments and their various agencies.

Parenthood is a gift of god. Thanks to the development in medical sciences, childless couples can now opt for surrogate pregnancies. If women employees of Central Government organizations opt for surrogate pregnancies, can they claim maternity leave?

Women employees of Central Government establishments are given Maternity leave for a period of 180 days and male employees are given Paternity Leave for a period of 15 days if they choose to adopt babies. At present, there is no leave entitlements for parents of the surrogate child.

Taking over as the 36th Defence Minister of the country, Shri Parrikar said, his predecessor Shri Arun Jaitley has initiated work on many issues relating to Defence despite several constraints and that he is confident of taking these steps forward with speed. Shri Parrikar expressed his thanks to the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for reposing confidence in him and entrusting him with this important and sensitive Ministry.

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today launched "Jeevan Pramaan" – an "Aadhar-based Digital Life Certificate" for pensioners, in a move that could eventually benefit over a crore pensioners. The Prime Minister said that after the push towards self-certification, this digital life certificate was another enabling mechanism which would benefit the common man.
