Benefits to Disabled
The Central Government has been implementing the provisions of the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995 in right earnest. State Governments are however, mainly responsible for implementation of the provisions of the Act. They have been advised to take measures for implementation of the Act in true spirit from time to time.
The Supreme Court vide its order dated 08.10.2013 directed that computation of 3% the vacancies to be reserved for the persons with disabilities shall be computed on the basis of total vacancies in the cadre. Department of Personnel and Training has accordingly issued requisite circular in March 2014 to implement the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha here today.
