Subject: Bye election to fill clear vacancies in the State Legislative Assembly of Meghalaya – 2018 – Grant of paid holiday – regarding

The undersigned is directed to state that in connection with the Bye Election to fill clear vacancies in the State Legislative Assembly of Meghalaya (35-Ranikor (ST) and 51-South Tura (ST) to be held on 23.08.2018 (Thursday), the guidelines already issued by this Department vide OM No. 12/14/99-JCA dated 10.10.2001 (copy enclosed) would have to be followed for the Central Government Offices including industrial Establishments covered by the said OM.

Subject: Half Day Holiday on 17th August, 2018 – Demise of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Former Prime Minister of India.

It has been decided that there will be half-day holiday in the afternoon of 17th August, 2018 in all Central Government Offices and CPSUs throughout the country to enable the people to attend the State Funeral which will take place at “Smriti Sthal’, New Delhi/ Pay homage to former Prime Minister Late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

2. All Ministries/Departments may bring the above decision to the notice of all concerned.

Subject: Change of date of holiday on account of Id-u-Zuha (Bakrid) during 2018 for all Central Government administrative offices located at Delhi / New Delhi.
As per list of holidays circulated vide this Ministry’s O.M.No.12/3/2017-JCA-2 dated the 14th June, 2017, the holiday on account of Id-ul-Zuha (Bakrid) falls on Wednesday the 22nd August, 2018. It has been brought to notice of this Ministry that in Delhi Id-ul-Zuha will be celebrated on 23rd August, 2018. Accordingly, it has been decided to shift the holiday to 23rd August, 2018 in place of 22nd August, 2018 as notified earlier, for all Central Government administrative offices at Delhi / New Delhi.
2. For Offices outside Delhi / New Delhi the Employees Coordination Committees or Head of Offices (where such Committees are not functioning) can decide the date depending upon the decision of the concerned State Government.

TN State Government has declared a public holiday on 8th August


DMK President M Karunanidhi Passes Away
DMK Chief and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi passed away this evening in Chennai.

The TN State Government has declared a public holiday on 8th August, 2018. Government Offices including Schools and Colleges to remain closed on 8.8.2018 (Wednesday).

President Ram Nath Kovind said in a message that he is extremely sad to learn about M Karunanidhi’ death.
Mr Kovind termed Mr Karunaidhi as a doyen of public life, a contributor to the development of Tamil Nadu and of India.
Vice President Venkaiya Naidu described Karunanidhi as one of theleading and longstanding politicians of the country who left a mark of his ownduring his long public life of about 80 years.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his message said the country has lost adeep-rooted mass leader, prolific thinker, accomplished writer and a stalwartwhose life was devoted to the welfare of the poor and the marginalised.
Mr Modi said he stood for regional aspirations as well as nationalprogress and he was steadfastly committed to the welfare of Tamils and ensuredthat Tamil Nadu’s voice was effectively heard.
The Prime Minister said his thoughts are with the family and the countless supporters of Karunanidhi in this hour of grief. He said country and particularly Tamil Nadu will miss him immensely.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Chennai tomorrow morning today his last respects to Kalaignar Karunanidhi.

In order to celebrate May Day, which falls on 1st May, 2018 (Tuesday), in a befitting manner, the Governer is pleased to declare State Government holiday on 2nd May, 2018 (Wednesday), in addition to 1st May, 2018 which has already been notified as a public holiday vide Notification No.6005-E(P2)/FA/O/lH-04/2012 dated 22.9.2017.

All State Government offices including educational institutions, Rural and Urban Local Bodies, Authorities, Boards, Corporations, State Government Undertakings and other parastatals under the State Government, shall remain closed on 2nd May, 2018 (Wednesday) in addition to 1st May, 2018.

Central govt offices to remain closed on April 13



   In view of the forthcoming Assembly elections, Central government offices in Tamil Nadu will remain closed on April 13, the day of the polls.

   As per the DoPT OM No12/14/99 dated 10—10—2001 all the Central Government offices shall remain closed on April 13, a release from Central Government Employees Welfare Coordination Committee said.

   The day following the day of the elections, April 14, has also been declared a holiday in view of Dr B R Ambedkar’s birth anniversary, the statement added.

   Tamil Nadu along with Puducherry and Kerala goes to polls on April 13.
