ORDER:-
    The Government of Tamil Nadu is implementing various Education oriented welfare schemes for the upliftment of poor Backward Classes/Most Backward Classes/Denotified Communities students.  Of these schemes, sanction of Scholarship is one of  the major scheme implemented by the Department of Backward Classes and Most Backward Classes and Denotified Communities to enable the Backward Classes/Most Backward Classes/Denotified Communities students to continue  their Education without much financial hardship. Under the Scholarship schemes implemented by this Department, the Postmatric Scholarship is one of the scheme sanctioned to the poor Backward Classes/Most Backward Classes/Denotified Communities students.

Subject: Advertisement for inviting proposals under Central Sector  Scheme of “Free Coaching for SC & OBC Students" during 2012-13.

   The,  Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment,  Department of Social Justice and Empowerment invites proposals from reputed coaching institutions/centres for providing free coaching to students belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in the ratio of 70:30.  The programme would cover coaching for:

   i) Group A and B examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) and the various Railway Recruitment Boards (RRB);

   ii) Group A and B examinations conducted by the State Public Service Commissions;

Pre-Recruitment Training to SC and OBC Students

   A Central Sector Scheme of “Free Coaching for SC and OBC Students” is being funded by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment for providing qualitative coaching to students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes.

   The objectives of the scheme are to provide free coaching for Group A and B examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission, the Staff Selection Commission and various Railway Recruitment Boards and the State Public Service Commissions; Officers’ Grade examinations conducted by Banks, Insurance Companies and Public Sector Undertakings and; Finishing courses/job-oriented courses for employment in the private sector.

   The Scheme is being implemented through the reputed institutions/centres run by the State Governments/UT Administrations, Universities and the private sector organizations. Students belonging to SCs and OBCs having total family income of Rs.2.00 lakh per annum are eligible under the scheme.

   This information was given by the Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment Shri D. Napoleon in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.
