Extension of Maternity leave period for female teaching and non-teaching employees of Govt. Aided/Sponsored Primary Schools

MEMORANDUM

   Under Memorandum No.1146-F(P), dated 14.02.2011 the State Government has extended the period of Maternity leave to female State Government employees for a maximum period of 180 days subject to existing terms and conditions with effect from 01.01.2011.
Accordingly it has been felt necessary to extend the same benefit to the female teaching employees of Government Aided / Sponsored Primary Schools.

   Now, therefore, in exercise of the power conferred by sub-section (1) of section 106 of the West Bengal Primary Education Act, 1973 (West Ben. Act XLIII of 1973) (hereinafter referred to as the said Act) the Governor is pleased to make the following amendment to the West Bengal Primary Education (Leave of Teachers of Primary Schools) Rules’ 1999 (hereinafter referred to as the said rules).

AMENDMENT

   In the appendix to the said rules, for the Sub-Rule(1) of Rule 4, in Clause (b) in Sub-Clause (i) substitute the following Sub-Clause :-

   “(i) A female teacher or non-teaching employee may be granted maternity leave on full average pay for a period of 180 days from the date of its commencement.”

   This Order is deemed to have taken effect from 01.01.2011.

   This Memorandum is issued in supersession of earlier Notification No.1128-SE(Pry), dated 24.11.2004.
