The Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday announced interim relief, bonus and ex-gratia for the employees of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) and the State transport corporations. The employees of the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation are offered bonus and ex-gratia.
Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, in a press statement, said that pending formal commencement of wage settlement negotiation, an interim relief at the rate of Rs 250
a month would be paid to transport corporation and TNEB employees with effect from September 1, 2003. The interim relief would benefit 1.15 lakh workers in the transport corporations which would have to bear an additional cost of Rs 37.40 crore for the 13 months. The same would benefit 87,000 workers of TNEB which would have to pay Rs 28.28 crore.
The Chief Minister also announced 8.33% bonus and 1.67% ex-gratia for these employees and also the employees of the civil supplies corporation. Payment of bonus...
