Ministry of Tourism Announces More Incentives to Indian Medal Winners at Recently Concluded CWG 2010

The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India congratulates all the medal winners of the recently concluded CWG 2010 and wishes all the sports persons stunning success at the forthcoming Asian Games to be held at Guangzhou, China from the 12th November 2010. As announced during the Commonwealth Games 2010, Union Ministry of Tourism promised to provide luxury train trips for Indian winners at the Games. As Indian sports persons brought spectacular success at the Games, Minister of Tourism Kumari Selja announced some more incentives for the medal winners who brought laurels to the country at CWG 2010. The added incentives have been announced in association with the stakeholders in the Tourism sector. Kumari Selja has written to all the medal winners informing them about the latest announcement of her Ministry and thanked all the stakeholders for giving encouragement to the sports persons who have attained new heights in their career by winning 38 Gold, 27 Silver and 36 Bronze at the CWG 2010.

The incentives announced by Kumari Selja are as follows:

1) In association with State Governments of Rajasthan, Karnataka, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation, Ministry of Tourism announces complimentary travel packages for the medal winners and the coach or one companion to travel on the luxury trains:-

a) Royal Rajasthan on Wheels
b) Maharaja Express
c) Golden Chariot

These trains are the epitome of luxury travel in the world and will take the visitors across the various tourist attractions of the country in royal style. All costs including travel, accommodation, food and sightseeing are covered in these trips which extend upto seven nights. The sportspersons can avail of these trips anytime upto 31st of March 2012 depending upon the availability of accommodation and the choice of luxury train given by the medal winner. These incentives range from Rs. 1.20 lakhs to Rs. 3.20 lakhs per person according to the category of medals won.

2) In association with Hotel Association of India, Ministry of Tourism announces two nights three days hotel packages at 27 locations across the country at 48 member hotels like Taj, Oberoi, ITC, Leela etc. for Gold Medal winners.


3) In association with Indian Association of Tour Operators, MOT announces Golden Triangle tour – Delhi-Agra-Jaipur-Delhi. The tour for three nights and four days includes hotel accommodation with breakfast, transport and site seeing.

The concerned medal winners can contact respective federations to collect their letter for availing the packages.
