Sir, Inviting reference to your e-mail dt. 28/08/2018, it is to inform your that there are 02 (two) Wellness Centres at Shillong and 01(one) Wellness Centre each at Agartala (Tripura) and Imphal (Manipur) under CGHS, Shillong. These two Wellness Centres in Shillong, in hilly station is within the radius of 2 km (approx). Many of the CGHS beneficiaries are resided outside the 5km radius from these two Wellness Centres and only a few beneficiaries are resided within the 5 km radius. Since, Shillong is hilly station, exact cover area within the 5 km radius will bring down number of beneficiaries and it is difficult to demarcate the exact cover area.

It is same also in city of Imphal and Agartala, they are the lone Wellness Centre at the State and many Central Govt. employees & their dependent stayed outside the 5 km radius.

Therefore, present demarcation of the area 5 km around the Wellness Centre is difficult and it will bring down the number of CGHS beneficiaries drastically. Therefore, it is suggested to maintain the status quo at present, though there is a guideline of 5 km covered area. Otherwise, if we publish 5km radius from the WCs, then many of the beneficiary at this three cities will try to opt out from the CGHS. It is for your information and necessary action in the greater interest of the present CGHS beneficiaries.
