Biometric Attendance

Will the Minister of PERSONNEL, PUBLIC GRIEVANCES AND PENSIONS be pleased to state:-
(a) whether the Government has made Aadhaar based biometric attendance system mandatory for all Central Government employees;
(b) if so, whether senior officers above Director and Joint Secretaries have been exempted from this system and if so, the reasons therefor;
(c) whether the Government has assessed the improvement after introducing this system; and
(d) if so, the details thereof and the outcome in this regard?
ANSWER
Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office. (DR. JITENDRA SINGH)
(a) and (b): The Government has decided to use an AADHAR Enabled Bio-metric Attendance System (AEBAS) in all offices of the Central Government, including attached / sub-ordinate Offices, in India. There is no change in the instructions relating to office hours, late attendance etc. Biometric attendance system is only an enabling platform to mark attendance.
(c) and (d): Details of such assessments are not required to be centrally maintained.
