BIOMETRIC ATTENDANCE SYSTEM

Will the Minister of PERSONNEL, PUBLIC GRIEVANCES AND PENSIONS be pleased to state:-

(a) whether the Government has decided to introduce Aadhaar enabled bio-metric system in Central Government offices;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether all the Government employees are having their Aadhaar number; and

(d) if not, the alternative arrangement made to register their attendance?

ANSWER

Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office.

(a) & (b): Yes, Madam. It has been decided to use an AADHAR Enabled Bio-metric Attendance System (AEBAS) in all offices of the Central Government, including attached / sub-ordinate Offices, in India. The system will be installed in the offices located in Delhi/ New Delhi by 31st December 2014. In other places this will be installed by 26th January 2015. A copy of the Office Memorandum dated 21st November, 2014 regarding introduction of AEBAS issued by the Government is annexed.

(c) & (d): No, Madam. At present some Government employees do not have their Aadhar number. Special Aadhar enrolment camps are being organized by UIDAI for enrolling these employees. The manual system of marking of attendance which is presently in place, will continue till such time the AEBAS is installed.
