Sub: MEDICAL AID – New Health Insurance Scheme, 2014 for Pensioners (including spouse) / Family Pensioners – Clarification – Issued. 

Ref: G.O.Ms.No.171, Finance (Pension) Department, Dated 26-06-2014. 

I am to invite your attention to the reference cited wherein orders were issued for implementing New Health Insurance Scheme, 2014 for Pensioners (including spouse) / Family Pensioners with effect from 1-7-2014. 

2. Doubts have now been raised as to whether the New Health Insurance Scheme, 2014 for Pensioners (including spouse) / Family Pensioners is also applicable to the Pensioners / Family Pensioners of Local Bodies, State Public Sector Undertakings, Statutory Boards, Corporations and other organizations.

3. I am directed to clarify that the Pensioners / Family Pensioners of Local Bodies, State Public Sector Undertakings, Statutory Boards, State Government Universities and State Government Organisations / Institutions registered under the Tamil Nadu Registration of Societies Act, 1975 are not eligible to avail medical assistance under the New Health Insurance Scheme, 2014 for Pensioners (including spouse) / Family Pensioners ordered in the G.O. cited.
