Sub: Grant of Nursing Allowance to Assistant Nursing Officers Working in Railway Hospitals

Ref: Railway Boards letter No.E(P&A)l-2012/AC/l dated 13.05.2014

Reference above, Railway Board have issued clarification to all Railway administrations that the ANOs are not entitled for grant of Nursing Allowance, on the plea that they perform overall supervision of the Nursing Service and not involved in the Nursing activities.

In this contest, it would be pertinent to mention hare that the ANOs, though may not be directly performing Nursing duties however, they are definitely involved directly in nursing activities while supervising the work. As such, denial of payment of Nursing Allowance to ANOs is highly unfair and unjustified also.

The Board are, therefore, requested to review the above instructions issued vide their letter quoted under reference and issue further clarification so as to make the ANOs eligible for payment of Nursing Allowance at par with other Nursing Staff in Railway Hospitals.

AIRF, would also like to discuss this issue threadbare with the Director General(Railway Health Services), Railway Board.

An eariy action in the matter is solicited.
