Tamilnadu Government announces Pongal gift to State Transport Corporation employees.

   Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today announced a Pongal gift of Rs 7.41 crore to the 1.27 lakh State Transport Corporation (STC) employees.

   The Pongal gift in the form of Performance Incentive would be given to the transport employees on the occasion of Pongal festival, an official release here said.

   Ms Jayalalithaa said state transport corporations played a vital role in providing efficient and comfortable transport facilities to the general public and they should be suitably rewarded, the release said.

   It said employees who had worked 91 days to 150 days in the year 2011 would be given an incentive of Rs 85. This would be Rs 195 for those who worked from 151 days to 200 days and Rs 625 for those who worked more than 200 days, it said.
