Medical Facilities to Non-Pensioners

The government is aware of the demand for medical facilities to non-pensioners such as Emergency Commissioned Officers and Short Service Commissioned.

A proposal to make Short Service Commission more attractive has been initiated in which the provision for grant of ECHS facilities to Short Service Commissioned Officers has been included. The above proposal is still under examination.

This information was given by Defence Minister of State for Defence Shri MM Pallam Raju in a written reply to Shrimati Paramjit Kaur Gulshan in Lok Sabha today.

  2. igree with the comments as above. these officers served for a period ranging 5 to 10 years and were thrown out of service without any pensionary benefits. they were paid a humiliating terminal gratuity @rs. 1000 for each year of completed service. these officers were recruited atthe time of need i.e during 62, 65 and 71 wars. quite a large number of them were ki8lled in action or were wounded during above wars. they have indeed been treated as guiny pigs. I wish the recently retired chief instead fighting for his seniority, had fought for their cause and resolved this long outstanding burning problem in question.but who cares. i wonder if such a shabby treatment is extended by any other army to its exservicemen is extended by indian army . god bless them.
