Order:


   In the G.O. first read above orders have been issued prescribing certain guidelines for the Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Marriage Assistance Scheme.

   2) In the Election Manifesto, 2011 among other things, the Hon’ble Chief Minister has announced the following:-

       (i) Marriage Assistance of Rs.50,000/- along with Four Grams Gold (1/2 Sovereign) for making ‘Thirumangalyam’ be given to women Graduate / Diploma holders.

   3) Based on the above announcement, the Director of Social Welfare in her proposal 3rd read above has proposed to enhance the financial assistance to Rs.50,000/- as marriage assistance to the Graduate / Diploma holders along with four grams (1/2 sovereign) of 22 ct. Gold for making ‘Thirumangalyam’ and requested Government orders in this regard.

   4) After careful examination, the Government accept the proposal of Director of Social Welfare for increasing the quantum of marriage assistance to Rs.50,000/-(Rupees Fifty Thousands only) to the women Graduates / Diploma holders along with four grams (1/2 Sovereign) of 22 ct gold at free of cost for making “Thirumangalyam”and sanction is also accorded for an additional amount of Rs.148.22 crores (Rupees One hundred forty eight crores and twenty two lakhs only) for the above purpose. Further the existing condition for eligibility under various marriage scheme shall remain unchanged. In addition to this the following conditions shall also be followed:-

     1. They must be Degree holder / Diploma holder.

     2. The benefit will be provided only for one girl in a family.

   5) The amount sanctioned in para-4 above shall be debited under the existing Head of Account as annexed to this order.

   6) The expenditure sanctioned in para-4 above shall constitute an item of “New Service” and the approval of the Legislature will be obtained in due course. Pending approval of Legislature, the expenditure will initially be met from the contingency fund, for which orders will be issued from Finance (BG-I) Department. The Director of Social Welfare is requested to send necessary proposals in the prescribed format to Finance (BG-I) Department for drawal of contingency fund advance with enclosing copy of this order. The Director of Social Welfare is requested to send necessary explanatory notes to include the above item of expenditure in supplementary estimates for 2011-2012 at an appropriate time.

   7) This order issues with the concurrence of the Finance Department vide its U.O.No. 84/DS(B)/SW/2011, dated 17-05-2011 and ASL No. 50 (Fifty).
