The government of AP has decided to effect an increase in the payment of DA to its employees at 8.56 percent, with effect from July 1, 2010.
3rd Dec, 2010: The Dearness Allowance for the state staff has been increased with effect from July 1. The government has decided to effect an increase in the payment of DA to government employees at 8.56 percent.
Briefing media persons at the state Secretariat on Thursday, Minister for Information and Public Relations D K Aruna said that the government will incur an additional burden of Rs 1,488.04 crore due to the DA hike.
She clarified that from July 1 to Nov 30, 2010, the enhanced DA will be credited to the GPF, and from December onwards employees would draw an enhanced salary (with the revised DA).
Referring to the agitation by 104 staff, the minister concerned has been asked to find a solution to settle their demands.
Regarding the recent losses suffered in the flood-hit districts, the minister said that the government had already sanctioned Rs. 591 crore for various works to be undertaken, like repairs to the infrastructure, restoring drinking water supply, restoring power supply, and in the fisheries department, among others.
She said that the works would be taken on war-footing.
Asked about minister Vatti Vasanth Kumar not attending the Cabinet meeting, Aruna said that there was no discussion on it.
