Union opposes pay equalisation
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala NGO Union has said the statement of Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy and Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Ramesh Chennithala in favour of pay equalisation was a challenge to government employees.
In a statement here on Saturday, the union said the Congress leaders had said that State government employees would be given pay scales on par with that of Central government employees if the UDF came to power. However, the pay equalisation introduced in 1992 by the then UDF government had harmed the interests of employees.
They had lost benefits, including higher increment rates. The benefits had been restored only after the LDF came to power, the union said.
