Supreme Court contented that information regarding the appointment and transfer of the High Court judges cannot be disclosed under the RTI Act as it will adversely affect the process of appointment and transfer of the judges.
Attorney General GE Vanhanvati, who was appearing for Supreme Court, made the submission during the hearing of the petition pending in the apex court against the Delhi High Court orders.
Former Chief Justice KG Balakrishnan had, on an earlier occasion, stated that such information as well as details of correspondence between the Chief Justice and the government cannot be made public. UNI
