Allahabad High Court cancels transfer orders for nearly 30,000 policemen

Allahabad High Court cancelled the transfer orders for nearly 30,000 policemen including the Inspector General’s of Police (IGs), the Head Constables and the Constables.

Justice Shishir Kumar passed this order on a petition filed by one Nandesh Singh and others.

On July 11, 1986, the state government had transferred IGs, Head Constables and Constables of Varanasi, Meerut, Agra, Allahabad, Kanpur, Vindhyanchal, Mirzapur, Basti, Gorakhpur, Azamgarh, Moradabad, Bareilly and Jhansi Ranges.

The transfer orders were made keeping in view that the policemen should not be posted in the districts nearing their hometowns.
